BREAKING: Drama As Oyo Indigenes Protest Delay In Selection Of New Alaafin
On Tuesday, a group of Oyo town natives staged a peaceful protest at the entrance of the Oyo High Court in Awe, expressing their concern over the delay in the selection of a new Alaafin. They carried placards with various inscriptions, such as "Oyo Mesi follows tradition, not money," "Alaafin stool is not for sale," "On Alaafin: Let dignity reign," and "Alaafin: Due process, Ife consultation are sacrosanct," among others. Meanwhile, the High Court sitting in Oyo, Oyo State, adjourned the case brought by five kingmakers against the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, the state Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Matters, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, regarding the vacant stool of Alaafin of Oyo, to Thursday, October 2.
