Israeli ground forces have reportedly entered Palestinian territories, specifically the Gaza Strip, in response to an offensive attack by Hamas. The Israeli military confirmed this development in a statement issued recently.
Their mission includes battling militants, eliminating weapons, and searching for evidence related to missing hostages held by Hamas. It's worth noting that this action is not the commencement of a full-scale ground invasion of Gaza. Israeli troops had been amassing along the Gaza border since a prior incursion by Hamas.
According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), infantry forces and t9anks entered the Gaza Strip on Friday for targeted operations. Their goals are to clear the area of potential threats and to locate the missing Israelis. This operation appears to be a precursor to a larger-scale response to the Hamas attack that resulted in numerous casualties.
Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesman, stated that armored and infantry units conducted searches and thwarted anti-tank guided missile squads attempting to infiltrate Israeli territory. "We will continue our efforts to obóu88tain information about the missing individuals and hostages," he added.
Hamas reportedly took around 150-200 individuals hostage during their attack. The IDF has notified approximately 120 families about their relatives' detention in the Gaza Strip.
