Presidency congratulates Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Olamide, Ayra Starr on Grammy nominations



Nigerian musicians have secured nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards, scheduled at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, showcasing the remarkable international growth of Nigerian music. Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, extended congratulations to the nominees, including Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, Olamide, and Ayra Starr, recognizing their achievements in the maiden African Music category.


Davido's 'Unavailable,' Burna Boy's 'City Boy,' Ayra Starr's 'Rush,' and Asake's 'Amapiano' featuring Olamide earned nominations. Burna Boy secured his fourth consecutive Grammy nomination, while Davido, Olamide, Asake, and Ayra Starr celebrated their debut nominations, highlighting Nigeria's dominance in African mainstream music.


Additionally, Pop star Fireboy earned his first Grammy nomination for contributions to Jón Batiste's 'World Music Radio,' nominated for Album of the Year. CKay, the 'Love Nwantiti' crooner, received his first nomination for appearing on Janelle Monae's 'Age of Pleasure,' a project that also earned Seun Kuti a nomination, showcasing the diversity and talent within the Nigerian music scene.
