Nigerian football stars, Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala, have earned nominations for the prestigious 2023 Ballon d'Or award.

French Football, the organizers of this esteemed award, unveiled the list of nominees on the evening of September 6, and both Osimhen and Oshoala have secured their spots.

Osimhen will be competing with 29 other football greats, including names like Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Mohamed Salah, and Kevin De Bruyne.

Among the 30-man shortlist are also renowned players such as Antoine Griezmann, Martin Odegaard, Luka Modric, Ilkay Gundogan, Vinicius Junior, and Robert Lewandowski.

In the women's category, Oshoala aims to clinch the award amid fierce competition from 29 outstanding players, including Women's World Cup champion Aitana Bonmati.

The grand Ballon d'Or 2023 ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on October 30.
