Famous filmmaker passes away!

Filmmaker Charles Grandsville has sadly passed away on Thursday, September 21, following a prolonged illness.

In brighter news, notable Nollywood filmmaker and entrepreneur, Charles Granville, has been chosen, along with a select few Africans, to be awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Highstone International University in California, United States. This recognition is part of the university's efforts to promote excellence in leadership and acknowledge the contributions of distinguished individuals working towards a better world.

This recognition marks a significant milestone as it's the first time a Nollywood personality has been honored by this institution, which has previously recognized high-achieving individuals from various fields, including academia, business, philanthropy, and leadership in Africa.

This honor comes on the heels of Granville's appointment as the International Peace and Governance Council's (IPGC) Special Envoy to ECOWAS, granting him the powers and privileges of an IPGC ambassador for Investment Cooperation in Africa.

Charles Granville, known for his work on films like "Locked" and "30 Pieces of Silver," has already received accolades such as 'Man of the Year' (Man magazine), 'Special Mention Award' at the Abuja International Film Festival 2020 (for "Locked"), 'Best Movie Producer 2020' (The Intellects Award), and 'Entrepreneur of the Year' (Nigerian Achievers' Awards).

Currently, he is working on his latest film, titled "I'm in Charge," set for release in 2022 and featuring stars like Funke Akindele-Bello and Richard Mofe-Damijo. Granville views this recent honor from the US-based university, along with previous recognitions, as a call to continue his efforts to make the world a better place.

He remarked, "It feels good to be recognized, and it underscores the idea that one's efforts are making a positive impact. I am dedicated to creating a better world and call on other celebrities to join in this mission to improve the world."
